About NDC

The National Dialogue Committee (NDC) came into play after the Consultative Dialogue Framework (CDF) operationalised in 2012. The CDF seeks to promote a people-centered and market-driven integration process through inclusive and consultative participation of Private Sector, Civil Society, Professional Associations and other interest groups on the one hand and the EAC on the other, within the context of the East African Community Treaty. The dialogue is so as to ensure that the integration process proceeds with the involvement of East Africa citizens and is undertaken in the context of multi-stakeholder partnerships.

The National Dialogue Committee (NDC) comprises of representatives of apex bodies under the Private Sector (KEPSA), Civil Society Organizations and other interest groups as well as the relevant government ministries and agencies namely the East African Civil Society Organizations’ Forum (EACSOF), the Kenya Private Sector Alliance, the Association of Professional Societies in East Africa, the East African Youth Network (Kenya Chapter), the Central Organization of Trade Unions, the State Department of East African Affairs and the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya (IRCK).

The role of the NDC is to coordinate national activities within the provisions of the CDF including hosting the National Dialogue Forum under guidance of the Ministry of East African Community and Northern Corridor Development. The NDF brings together over 100 delegates from Government departments, Private Sector, Civil Society Organizations, other interest groups and Development Partners. Selected representatives of each partner state’s NDC meet at the Regional Dialogue Forum under the banner of the Regional Dialogue Committee to consolidate the proposed EAC Agenda.
